Lamberts Beach 2018 Seafood & Wine Festival

What a great start to festival life!

This long weekend we were lucky enough to take part in our first wine festival as Nuova Scuola Wines and I must say it was a great one to kick off with. The Lambert's Beach 2018 Seafood and Wine Festival held at the Seabreeze hotel in Slade Point Mackay!

Saturday morning we packed up the car and headed off for our 9 hour drive to Mackay unsure of what to expect but pretty excited to be heading off to a festival. We had had some issues with some earlier festivals we had wanted to go to and unfortunately were not able so it was great to be finally in the car with marque and banner and ready to showcase our wines to the world (or at least a small part of it anyway!).

We left early and manage to arrive there by 4.30pm in the afternoon so we still had enough time to take in some of the stunning scenery and catch a beer at the hotel to wind down after the trip. Adam the manager was warm and welcoming and made us feel right at home despite still bustling around making last minute arrangements for his big event the next day! They even stocked all our wines for us in the cool room over night.

We had a great meal there in the restaurant that night of some crumbed brie with yummy local sour dough, coconut and macadamia crusted prawns and then a vegie pizza, but we did do our best to head to bed early to be prepared for the next day.

We were up and out at 7.30am and the guys were already setting up stages and food trucks were rolling in the set up there on site kitchens for the day. Adam helped us ferry all of our gear over to our spot for the day and we were pretty excited as we set up our stall for the first time.

As the crowd started to roll in at 12pm the vibe was already lifting the music was playing and it didn't take long before our first glasses of wine were leaving the stand. I must say the Mackay people were awesome, a super friendly crowd that were so receptive to our wines and really made our day! The music was great and the food was amazing! BBQ Moretan bay bug tails, and garlic prawns, salt and pepper squid, oysters, fresh prawns, pastas and risotto's with seafood as well as some tasty Mexican food, pizza and local butchery sausage hotdogs! Yum! We tasted most of it but my stomach still grumbled all day with the delicious smells that were wafting over as we were serving wine!

By the end of the day the crowd was up dancing and the energy was really positive and fun! Plus it ended with a bang as fireworks lit up the sky! An extra touch that many festivals don't go the extra mile to do but it made the day and night extra special! We had a blast. It was so worth the trip and we will definitely be back to do it all again next year!
